WAKEFIELD, MA — The town received $1,500 in a state grant that will bolster recycling efforts. The money is part of a small-scale grant that must go to things like buying recycling materials and outreach tools or to facilitate new initiatives. The grants are part of the state's Sustainable Materials Recovery Program. Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Kathleen Theoharides said recycling programs "play a vital role in limiting our dependence on landfills and incinerators, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting economic activity across the Commonwealth."
