FLORIDA — As jury deliberations continue in the Kyle Rittenhouse homicide trial in Wisconsin, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz said he might have a job for the teen who shot three people in Kenosha during the protests following the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man, by white police officers in August 2020. The jury panel in the case is tasked with deciding whether Rittenhouse acted in self-defense in the shooting, which killed two people. If he's acquitted, the GOP congressman told Newsmax that Rittenhouse could be a good fit as a congressional intern. "He is not guilty; he deserves a not guilty verdict," Gaetz told the news outlet Wednesday. "And I sure hope he gets it because you know what? Kyle Rittenhouse would probably make a pretty good congressional intern." The representative said his office might reach out to Rittenhouse to "see if he'd be interested in helping the country in additional ways." Among his many charges, Rittenhouse has been accused of first-degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon, first-degree reckless homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon.
