NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police today announced an arrest in connection with a seemingly unprovoked assault of a 71-year-old man who was walking home from the train station with groceries at the time of the attack. The senior citizen was on his way back from the New Rochelle train station when police said he was blindsided by a closed fist punch to the face. The punch reportedly knocked him to the ground, causing him to drop the bag of groceries he was carrying. The victim was bloodied by the punch to the face during the November 5, ambush that occurred just before 8 p.m., according to police. The suspect, later identified as 27-year-old David Hauze, fled after the assault, police said. On Wednesday afternoon, New Rochelle detectives found and arrested Hauze. The New Rochelle man was charged with felony assault in the 2nd degree — causing injury to a person 65 years of age or older.
