MEDFORD, MA — The city is moving on to the next step of redeveloping Carr Park after unveiling its preferred design and Vision Plan for the space over the weekend. Illustrative plans, perspective drawings and a "walking tour" – which included a rough layout and locations of different proposed features – were presented at the event, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said. The unveiling came after months of public meetings and in-person gatherings at the park, during which the city collected input from nearly 700 residents through two online surveys. View renderings of the preferred design below: The proposal includes two Little League fields, four pickleball courts, a covered basketball court, a flex-use basketball court that can be used for street hockey and ice skating, an inclusive playground area, a skate park, an off-leash dog park and more. Lungo-Koehn said the next step for the proposed redesign is securing funding, a phase during which more detailed drawings will be developed, and additional feedback sought. This plan will be used as the framework for applying for grants and funding for construction.
