NAUGATUCK, CT — The Naugatuck High School Marching Band reportedly won awards for excellence in state and regional band competitions this month. The Greyhounds took third place at the USBands Group II Open Class, district officials announced, and before that, the band won first place in state and New England competitions, reported My Citizens News. "We're proud to introduce to you the 2021 USBands Group II Open Class National 3rd Place Champions!" officials wrote on Facebook (see below). "Congratulations on an honor well-won. This is the highest Nationals placement in the history of our band. We missed 2nd place by only a 10th of a point!" The 59-member band performs under the direction of Manny Arboleda, and is supported by the nonprofit Naugatuck High School Greyhound Band Association.
