Rehearsal room available for a single musician to share at Jack London Studios, in downtown Oakland, starting December 1st. If this post is still up, the room is still available! About the room: The room is accessible for rehearsing 24 hours, 7 days a week. It has recently been cleaned, painted, and re-carpeted. The room size measures 15' x 18' with 10' ceilings, has 5 outlet boxes along the walls with 4 outlets in each box. The room has been treated with acoustic panels and bass traps from GIK Acoustics on the walls, corners, and ceiling to improve the acoustics for rehearsing and live recording. It sounds way better than your average box room. The HVAC system in the building was recently upgraded in response to cov1d so that air is circulated and filtered well. Additionally there is a HEPA air purifier that can be run in the room while it's being used. Outside of the room everyone who enters the JLS building is expected to wear a mask, such as in the hallways and bathrooms. About the building: According to the building manager, over half the tenants have remained since the building first opened. It's a very well maintained, chill, and conveniently located spot easily accessible from the 880 or 980 freeways in downtown Oakland near Jack London Square. How we share it: Currently three other people (including myself) share the room and use it for music production, practice, composition, etc. There's room for one more person's gear and there's plenty of time for having your own dedicated recurring weekly rehearsal slots during the day and/or evenings. These would be three hour long time slots available only to you, up to three times a week. We use a Google Calendar to coordinate time slots, and any open time on the calendar is free for booking drop in time. We also tend to be flexible on swapping recurring time slots, a benefit of having fewer people in the room.
