PITTSBURGH, PA — CVS announced plans Thursday to close 900 of its approximately 9,900 locations over the next three years, calling the move a "new retail footprint strategy aligned to evolving consumer needs."
What that means for Pittsburgh CVS location remains to be seen. CVS did not release a list of stores to close under its reduced footprint plan, which will be implemented beginning in the spring.
"Our retail stores are fundamental to our strategy and who we are as a company," CVS CEO Karen Lynch said in a release. "We remain focused on the competitive advantage provided by our presence in thousands of communities across the country, which complements our rapidly expanding digital presence."

The company said it's committed to offering workers displaced by the closures roles in other locations or "different opportunities" as part of its overall workforce strategy.
