MOKENA, IL — Interim Police Chief Brian Benton is asking for the public's help in identifying anyone involved in the recent theft of spray paint and other items from the Mokena Wastewater Treatment Plant, as well as racist graffiti that was found near the area.
Mokena police responded Thursday to the wastewater facility, located at 11400 191st St., for a report of a burglary, Benton said. Officers learned that some time overnight, a person or persons took several cans of ground marking spray paint and other miscellaneous items.
The thief or thieves then used the marking paint to spray paint racist and other derogatory graffiti on a number of trees, as well as the pedestrian bridge which connects 191st Street and Stephanie Lane, Benton said.
Anyone with information related to the theft or vandalism is asked to call the Mokena Police Department at 708-479-3912.
