FERNDALE, MI — Two people are in custody for connection to a possible abduction attempt of a Ferndale High School student at a gas station Wednesday, according to a release from Ferndale police.
Police said the possible abduction took place during schools hours but not on school property.
A letter signed by Ferndale School Superintendent Dania Bazzi confirmed the girl was returned to her family.
"I am elated to report that the female FHS student who was abducted yesterday was located later that afternoon and is back with her family," Bazzi said.

Police confirmed the community is safe as it relates to this case, said no additional information could be provided at this time.
Ferndale Police are working with the FBI on this case, officials said.
