Fun. That's all there is to it. Don't over think it. Like so many "originals only" musicians, you're a melodramatic weirdo. So most of us have no interest in trying to finish raising you like your mom failed to do. Many of us aren't trying to "make it". Many of us don't want to play for free or pay to play (like most originals bands do). We just want to have some fun. The audience usually has fun at my shows as well. We get paid (pretty well I might add). So there's no downside for me. It's really none of your business anyway. But, I figured you weren't quite pissed of enough by yourself, so I would help you with that. Enjoy your originals band... the one in your head.... because I'm almost certain you aren't in an actual band (which is why you're complaining to begin with). Cheers. I'm off to the bonus room of my paid-for house to jam on my very nice gear next to my jam room fridge stocked with excellent beer. Tuesday night some of my very best friends will come over here to play music. We'll laugh and drink and have a ball. Then, next Friday night we'll each make $235 to play 5 miles from my house. I'll be home by 1 a.m. and wake up with my beautiful wife and go hiking with my awesome two daughters. I've got it all, brother. Find yourself a real job. Start a family. Make original music on the side. Or.... simply piss n moan about the local music scene, drive that into the ground, struggle to make ends meet for a couple of decades, and wind up working behind the counter at the auto parts store in your 40s and 50s. Seems like you have a plan.
