9 MONTH OLD GERMAN SHORT HAIRED POINTER TO GOOD HOME

Description
We need to rehome our 9 month old male German Short Haired Pointer. Arrow is not neutered, but is up to date on shots, and is licensed in Westfield. I read up on the neuter thing, and he has none of the annoying habits that some un-neutered dogs have so I left him intact. He is very HIGH ENERGY, and has gotten much larger in the past few months than anybody saw coming. He was less than 50 pounds when he arrived and we were pretty sure he was full grown. I think he's at least 65 pounds now, he barely walks under the kitchen table. He is very tall, and that's part of the problem. We are older, and he has come very close to causing serious injuries to myself and husband because he doesn't know his size, and isn't very careful once he gets excited both indoors and out. I have a sketchy back, and he just bashes me out of his way as he runs by if he is focused on something else. I don't know of any training to stop that. He is fully house trained, knows his name, knows stay "out of the kitchen" when we are cooking and eating and will lay patiently in the hall. He stays off furniture unless invited up if enforced. He talks a lot....grumbles, sighs, growls when frustrated....very comical. He is extremely loving, and loves attention. He is the best cuddler ever and will follow you when outdoors. He needs a large yard to run and or daily walks. He is an excellent watchdog, and leery of men he doesn't know until they show him he can trust them. I would also say that although he loves children and is very tolerant, he is not careful of them either and will probably knock them over sooner or later. He doesn't bark outside even when the neighbors dogs bark at him, which is nice. He barks inside when he hears something that he thinks is a threat. He gets along with other dogs and loves to play running games. I don't know how he would do with cats. I know he loves to chase squirrels when he encounters them in the yard. He has been using a crate at night and does well with one that is covered at night. He doesn't steal shoes or clothes or chew furniture, but stuffed animals he can swipe are likely to become his chew toys and if the kitchen pail is high and smells good, he will be likely to swipe some things from that. He comes with all of his toys, his raincoat, a leash and his harness.. We will also supply his medical records and license. The rehoming fee is 150. Please let me know why you believe you and Arrow would be a good fit. Feel free to send a phone number if you wish and I'll get back to you promptly.
