Tax Volunteers for QCAP’s VITA Tax Program QCAP's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is looking for volunteers who are interested in sharing their skills, talent and knowledge. As a volunteer, you will help low-income individuals and families file their tax returns free of charge. Volunteer tax preparation helps individuals and families claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC), federal tax benefits that help workers care for their families, withstand unexpected economic changes, and reduce poverty. Tax preparation services will be offered using a hybrid model (virtual/drop off). Our highest priority is the health and safety of our VITA volunteers and clients. We will be following all current COVID safety precautions. This is an unpaid volunteer position. You can help by training to be a Tax Preparer/ Quality Reviewer or a Client Service Assistant. No prior experience necessary. Before you begin, you’ll attend a free training on tax law. Our site coordinator and trainer will answer any questions and help you through the process. Commitment: All volunteers are asked to commit for at least 3 hours per week. We offer flexible scheduling. Our tax preparation services will begin on January 31, 2022 and run until April 15, 2022.
