Join us for our Thanksgiving Gleaning Day at Firebird Research Farm and take home one bag of produce! Registration is required. The end of the outdoor growing season is here! The College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES), Center for Urban Agriculture and Gardening Education (CUAGE), will host a Thanksgiving Gleaning Day at Firebird Research Farm, on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Join us as we harvest all plants in the fields. Participants will be instructed by a UDC staff member about harvesting techniques for gleaning fall produce, such as kale, collard greens, pumpkin squash, and sweet potatoes. The produce will be donated to organizations that provide hunger relief to underserved communities in the District of Columbia. Volunteers who help with the harvest will be able to take home one bag of produce. EVENT DETAILS SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS WILL BE OBSERVED. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
