Description

Together as writers, activists, advocates, housing & planning professionals, and community leaders, we invite you to a Writers Breakfast! Housing in Gunnison Valley is facing a mountain culture conundrum: a generation wanting to preserve the way of life known and celebrated for decades, and a generation of those looking to be included and rooted in the Mountain West. Our community is experiencing a current housing emergency while also looking into the future for long-term livability. Housing encompasses much more than a roof over our heads. As we all know, housing affects our ability to establish economic stability and maintain a fulfilling career, build friendships and cultivate community, elicit creative expression and hobbies, and provide emotional and physical security. As Colorado faces a major junction to preserve and maintain the current housing stock, while making progress towards instilling affordability and accessibility through programs and incentives, while also building new housing, the need for civic engagement and cohesive messaging must meet the times and support this movement. Together as writers, activists, advocates, housing & planning professionals, and community leaders, we invite you to come together for a Writers Breakfast, to learn, practice and share techniques to express effective housing narratives. Whether you have an interest in Whetstone, 6th and Butte, the North Village, the Good Deed Program or various other initiatives, these projects all sit within a greater story of what it means to house our community equitably, fairly, and sustainably. Join the Community Resiliency Alliance, Saturday December 4th, from 9-11am, for a writers breakfast. We’re gathering an outstanding group of community members to creatively collaborate and (caffeinate!) together. Annie Beall will lead the group through a lesson in Housing communication, utilizing resources created by Housing Colorado, and we will then have time to practice writing housing narratives in our own words. Bring your laptop or favorite notebook and pen, and together we will craft narratives we want to share with our Gunnison Valley. Writers Breakfast: Housing Communication Workshop Saturday December 4th, 9am-11am CB Center for the Arts, room TBD RSVP by 12/1 by 8pm by Registering on Eventbrite Questions? Feel free to email, call or text Annie Beall, Willa Williford, Lindsey Freeburn and Jasmine Whalen.
