Description
Valley Bar + Bottle and Las Jaras Wines Present a Solstice Benefit Concert for La Luz Sonoma, feat. new Sonoma Americana project State Fair. In 1985, the wine industry was booming in Sonoma Valley. Hundreds of workers were hired from Mexico, Central and South America to work in the vineyards. Ligia and a group of Sonoma residents came together to provide needed assistance and began to call themselves La Luz, Spanish for “The Light”. Over the years, La Luz Center has expanded capabilities through strong community partnerships and a talented, resourceful La Luz staff that now delivers a wide-range of programs, services and responsive support to families in Sonoma Valley. Ligia understood the unique relationship between the people of The Springs and the economy of Sonoma Valley. The Latino community, now comprising approximately 28% of the Sonoma Valley population and 58% of our public school enrollment, significantly contributes to the vitality of the Valley. La Luz Center continues to bring “The Light” to Sonoma Valley residents and we invite you to explore our website to learn more about current La Luz Center partnerships, services, and programs. *** Valley owner and singer-songwriter Tanner Walle began his new musical project with Sonoma resident and songwriter Austin Ferreira in the Fall of 2019 after a spontaneous meetup with mutual friends in their neighborhood of the Springs. What came quickly thereafter was a a boom of songwriting, finishing an album's worth of new songs in less than a few months time. Taking inspiration from their shared favorites – John Prine, Dylan, the Stones – Austin and Tanner recorded their first full-length this past summer, produced by seven-time Grammy winner Hector Castillo (David Bowie, Philip Glass, Beck, Lou Reed). On the heels of their official release this Spring 2022, they will be running through their new album with the backing support of their full ensemble. Opening the show is Robbie Arnett aka Bobbie Bianco, as he explores his new solo project following many years as frontman of his brilliant indie rock band Milo Greene. Doors are at 7PM, with drinks provided by both Las Jaras Wines as well as some other local and international favorites. All proceeds will benefit La Luz. We can't wait to celebrate the Winter Solstice with you.
