Heart of Oregon is actively recruiting applicants for AmeriCorps cohorts that start early 2022 and throughout spring of 2022. Crews operate out of Bend and Prineville, and welcome young people from all of Central Oregon. The AmeriCorps Conservation Corps program serves local young people ages 17-24 throughout Central Oregon, and improves over 1,000 acres of public lands a year. Crews of 7-8 local young people and a Staff Crew Leader serve mostly outdoors on natural resource conservation projects. Crews learn to use a chainsaw or crosscut saw, build a fence, control invasive weeds, and maintain hiking/biking trails. Project partners include the Deschutes and Ochoco US Forest Service, Prineville BLM District, and Bend Parks & Rec, among many others. Terms are 3-months (13 weeks) Full Time commitment or 4.5 month (18 weeks) Part Time commitment. Full Time positions are scheduled Monday-Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM or Monday-Thursday 7 AM - 5:30 PM. Part Time positions are required to work 3 days a week, and are able to determine which days upon hire, with daily hours of 8 AM - 4:30 PM. This is a non-residential program, therefore housing is not provided.
