RENTON, WA — Several vehicles were involved in a major crash Wednesday morning along the Maple Valley Highway, heading west into Renton. According to the Renton Police Department, a semi-truck and a cement truck rolled onto their sides and multiple vehicles were tangled up in the crash. Police said there were early reports of injuries.
Renton fire crews said the crash also resulted in a large fuel spill and hazmat teams were added to the large emergency response. Medics were treating patients at the scene, but information on the number of injuries was not immediately available.
In an update shared at 2:30 p.m., the Renton Police Department said one westbound lane had reopened near 140th Way Southeast. However, police cautioned that drivers should expect congestion to continue through the evening commute and may want to consider alternate routes.
