Here are the top stories in Burlington today: A former University of Vermont hockey player will be competing in this year's Miss USA pageant, airing on Nov. 29. Joanna Nagle discovered her love of hockey after attending a UVM game in elementary school, later joining their club team. She didn't discover her love of pageants until her senior year of college when she started entering Miss Vermont pageants, finally taking home the crown this past June. The beauty queen currently coaches the U12 Burlington Bobcats and is using her platform to encourage more women to get into coaching. (Seven Days)A nearly three and a half hour partial lunar eclipse visible from Vermonters' backyards is happening early Friday morning, the longest partial eclipse in 580 years. In Vermont, the eclipse will start at about 2 a.m. and will reach its maximum at about 4 a.m. Of note, weather in the Burlington area may make the eclipse challenging to see due to the possibility of precipitation from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. (BurlingtonFreePress.com)Tuesday saw the world premiere in Burlington of "Vermont and the Bright Green Nothing," a crowdfunded documentary about Bo Moore's quest to trademark his catchy recommendation to "eat more kale."
