AUSTIN, TX — The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame Museum unveiled the first bobblehead of Texas Governor Greg Abbott earlier this month. The bobblehead of Governor Abbott joins 14 other U.S. governors offered by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. Abbott's bobblehead was added based on customer requests from both sides of the aisle, museum officials said Nov. 5. The bobbleheads are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum's Online Store. They are $25 each and are expected to ship in February. Live in Austin? "After taking a bit of a break from governor bobbleheads, we started to get more requests for a bobblehead of Governor Abbott," National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. "A lot of those requests came from people who approve of the governor while some came from people who think Abbott is a 'bobblehead'. Regardless, we wanted to add Governor Abbott to the collection and give people the opportunity to have a bobblehead of Texas' governor." It has produced high quality, customized bobbleheads for retail sale as well as organizations, individuals, and teams across the country. The bobblehead is the first of the Lone Star State's 48th governor, a Republican who assumed office on January 20th, 2015. Abbott, who was the longest-serving Attorney General in Texas history, was elected governor in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. He is running for a third term in 2022. Democrat Beto O'Rourke will be his challenger in the November election. On a base bearing his name, the bobblehead features Abbott, wearing a blue suit and red striped tie, sitting in his wheelchair behind a desk as he makes an announcement during a press briefing. A round version of the Texas flag is on the front of the desk. The bobblehead of Governor Abbott joins previously released bobbleheads of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Museum officials said it will continue to donate $5 from every governor bobblehead sold to the Protect the Heroes fund, which is the same cause that the Hall of Fame and Museum has raised over $300,000 for through the sale of bobbleheads of Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dr. Deborah Birx, other Governors and 35 different Essential Hero professions.
