MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Marin County Sheriff's Office is readying for its annual toy drive. The Sheriff's Office will hold pre-holiday celebrations and toy giveaways at two locations this year for children 2 to 12 years of age at the agency's Point Reyes and Southern Marin (Marin City) substations. The Point Reyes Station (101 4th St.) event is scheduled for Dec. 14 (3:30 to 5:30 p.m.) and the Southern Marin Substation (850 Drake Ave.) event will be held Dec. 15 (2:30 to 4:30 p.m.). The event aims to create a fun experience in which children can visit surprise holiday characters, take a photo and receive a gift, the Sheriff's Office said. The Sheriff's Office held its first toy giveaway at the Southern Marin substation in 2008. The Point Reyes event will be the agency's first. The Sheriff's Office is asking for donations of unwrapped toys that are inclusive and boost self-esteem, such as books, dolls that represent all nationalities, sports equipment, board games or gift certificates for older children. "The Marin County Sheriff's Office is committed to being in partnership with our communities during this season of giving and as such, we are asking Marin County businesses and residents to donate an unwrapped toy to the Marin County Sheriff's Office for the celebration," the agency said in a statement. Toy donations will be collected through Dec. 14 at the following locations: Sheriff's Marin Office, 1600 Los Gamos Dr #200, San Rafael Southern Marin Substation, 850 Drake Avenue, Marin City Point Reyes Substation, 101 4th St, Point Reyes
