TINLEY PARK, IL — A 70-year-old man from Tinley Park is dead following a crash in an eastern Wisconsin county Monday morning, officials said. According to officials from the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to a two-vehicle crash Monday at around 8:15 a.m. on County Highway K at Interstate 43. There, they found a 70-year-old man in a 2005 Ford Ranger that had been struck by a 2007 Sterling truck. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed the 70-year-old did not stop at a stop sign at the bottom of the ramp off of the highway and was hit by the truck, which was traveling eastbound and driven by a 67-year-old man. The driver of the Sterling truck was not injured. The Manitowoc County Coroner's Office confirmed to Patch the preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, but did not release the man's name pending family notification. " On behalf of our Sheriff's Office, I would like to offer our deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragic incident," Sheriff Dan Hartwig wrote in a social media statement. The crash is under investigation by the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department.
