Description

Press release from the Village of Skokie: November 16, 2021 Weather permitting, the annual Village crack sealing project will commence shortly.  Crack sealing is a low cost preventative measure used to extend the life of asphalt pavement by preventing water from penetrating the surface of the pavement.  Existing cracks need to be cleaned before they can be sealed in order to allow for a good bond between the sealant and the pavement.  This makes it a very dusty undertaking, but overall disturbance is minimal as work in any given area is completed within a matter of hours.  Within a few days of cracks being sealed, the streets will be swept and work is then complete.  The list of streets we will be crack sealing this year is as follows:  Kirk - Crawford to Hamlin Laramie - Howard to Harvard Brummel - Niles Center to Lavergne Dobson - Lavergne to Lincoln Kildare - Golf to Grant Payne - Lowell to Keeler Grant - Kildare to Keeler Keystone - Church to Emerson Terminal - Golf to Emerson Greenwood - Crawford to Keeler Enfield - Crawford to Keeler Drake - Dempster to Main Crain - Niles Center to Skokie Blvd Greenleaf - Niles Center to Skokie Blvd Lee - Niles Center to Skokie Blvd Mulford - Long to Niles Center For more information, please contact the Engineering Division at 847/933-8231.
