PLAINFIELD, IL — High schools in Plainfield School District 202 are gearing up in advance of their upcoming madrigal concerts. Dates and programs vary from school to school, but one across-the-board change this year is there will be no food served at shows this year, officials said Monday. Plainfield South and East high schools' concerts coincide on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5. Though the concerts are on the same day, their start times are scattered, giving audiences an opportunity to swing by both. Plainfield Central and North high schools' madrigal performances are scheduled for the following week, on Dec. 10 and Dec. 11. Guests at the Plainfield South concert will be treated to an interactive performance — featuring a variety of music — about three brave, witty and strong champions will compete for a chance to marry the royal princess. At Plainfield East, the show will tell the story of the revival of the Royal Court and the return to the kingdom after time spent away. Plainfield North, on the other hand, will put on a show that tells the story of three princes who are competing for the role of king of the White Castle. This year will also mark the 43rd annual madrigal concert at Plainfield Central. Admission to each concert is varied.
