JOB PURPOSE The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for managing the day to day activities in the shipping department, including managing approximately 10-15 full time associates and a small number of temporary associates. This is a salaried first shift position reporting directly to the DC Outbound Operations Manager, with a Monday thru Friday 8:30AM-5:30PM shift that includes overtime as the position mandates. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Give work direction, resolves problems, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of all work to direct reports. Ensure high quality employee attraction, engagement, and development. Cultivate team spirit and promote inter-departmental cooperation by seeking opportunities to improve internal processes. Ensure employees adhere to standard operating procedures and processes; as well as work with management to develop and implement processes that improve departmental efficiency and competency. Drive continuous improvement in both productivity and quality. Meet regularly with team members collectively, as well as on an individual basis to establish daily goals, monitor progress toward meeting objectives, track performance, coach and counsel if necessary; as well as recognizing team and individual successes. Works closely with other department leaders to resolve issues and coordinate shipments. Alerts management of any critical or potentially critical issues. Demonstrate responsibility and compliance with all safety and quality policies and standards. May assist other departments as needed JOB QUALIFICATIONS Must have a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Must have experience driving various forklift equipment, pallet jack and RF Scanners. Must be able to perform in a high demand, time-sensitive environment. Must be able to multi-task while demonstrating an even temperament. Must have a dynamic personality, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to resolve conflict effectively. Must pay close attention to detail and be committed to “Getting It Right The First Time”. Must be self directed, driven and self-motivated. Must have experience using JD Edwards or a similar WMS. Must have a High School Diploma or a GED. College experience preferred. Demonstrated organizational ability and follow-through. Other Conditions Must be able to lift at least 50lbs without assistance using proper lifting techniques and/or with assistance of a pallet jack. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to work overtime as needed.
