ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A solid fall for Jimmy Makuh became even more memorable with Tuesday's announcement he has been selected to the Illinois High School Coaches Association's First Team for Class 7A. The John Hersey senior quarterback (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) is a resident of Mount Prospect. Makuh set a school record this fall with 2,397 passing yards, threw 30 touchdowns to just three interceptions, and had a 128.8 passer rating. "In a crazy two years, this young man never lost focus," said Makuh's coach, Joe Pardun, in a social media post. "Proud of all your growth and accomplishments. Great days ahead." Next up for Makuh is playing shooting guard/small forward for the school's varsity boys basketball team. Ben Sahakian, a senior defensive lineman and kicker for Prospect, was also named to the first team in 7A. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound player is coached by Dan DeBoeuf. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Ethan Groark, a senior wide receiver and defensive back at Rolling Meadows, was named an honorable mention in 7A.
