Straight 2 Video is new Brooklyn-based film collective dedicated not only to bringing film artists together but also to sharpening the skill-set of its members in an effort to push the boundaries of their craft. The collective will have many initiatives to explore but its primary directive revolves around: ---A monthly filmmaking assignment for all members that challenge their abilities (i.e. shooting only in black & white, shooting without sound, shooting only a phone etc.) ---A book club-like discussion for a film that each member watches either as a group or individually Where is filmmaking going in the age of digital media? How does new technology affect our approach to our art? Can experimental film projects be used to broaden our horizons as filmmakers? Questions like these embody the ethos of S2V and we would encourage our members to bring their own subjects worth exploration to the group as well. The idea is to require monthly dues from members in order to afford renting a space where we can meet regularly. Hopefully that would also expand to include holding events and maybe even a festival down the line. Would love to get feedback and any inquiries from those interested in joining. cheers!
