Ribs for Kids is the annual fundraising event put on by the Petaluma Active 20-30 Club. New this year....Chili Competition! Ribs for Kids is a baby back rib cook-off competition for the home gourmet; not professional chefs, but the backyard barbecuer. This year we have incorporated a home style chili cook-off into the fray. Our competitors will also be preparing a side dish of their choice. Come out and enjoy great home-cooked food while supporting the Petaluma Active 20-30 club! There is people's choice voting for the rib, chili, and side dish categories. Admission to this event includes: unlimited food samples and 2 drinks. There will also be live music, drinks, games, prizes, silent auction, and much more! The Active 20-30 Club is unique from other service organizations in that we place a strong emphasis on an active approach to community service participating in a hands-on fashion. Children’s Shopping Spree is a perfect example of that philosophy in motion and is our largest hands-on project of the year. We are able to provide some of Sonoma County’s most financially disadvantaged children with a memorable morning shopping for new clothes, shoes, and personal items to get ready for the new school year. Often, these are the children’s first new and properly fitting items they will own. As part of the shopping spree, hairdressers volunteer their time to give the children haircuts for school and a breakfast is provided. Each year, Petaluma Active 20-30 continues to advance its mission of helping more underprivileged children in our community. This event helps us to raise funds to support underprivileged children in our community. 100% of the proceeds go directly to children in our local area.
