World AIDS Day 2021: Ending the HIV Epidemic: Equitable Access
Join HIV Alliance for World AIDS Day in Eugene! World AIDS Day is on Wednesday December 1st and this year’s theme is “Ending the HIV Epidemic: Equitable Access.” We recognize World AIDS Day as a day to honor our combined work to end HIV, celebrate our collective successes, and remember those that we have lost.HIV Alliance is committed to ending HIV-related and other serious health disparities experienced by BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other communities in Oregon that experience barriers to service. We are working to create an environment where everyone is able to receive the same high quality education and health services to help prevent and treat HIV. This year we will be hosting several ceremonies throughout Oregon in collaboration with our community partners.
In Roseburg, we will be hosting an ceremony event from 6:00 to 8:00pm. We are partnering with PFLAG to raise awareness on how HIV affects our communities and to come together to increase equitable access to healthcare for all. We will host the ceremony for the first hour with speakers, and awards to our equitable community partners and supporters helping to end HIV. The second hour is reserved for a social gathering at the church with snacks and desserts.
Umpqua Community College is also offering free testing on site in the library from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
