Date: Tuesday November 30, 2021 Time: 6:00-8:30pm Location: The Greater Newark Conservancy Address: 32 Prince Street, Newark NJ 07103 Music By: DJ MD Meet & Greet Raffles Performances Hands-On ActivitiesLight refreshments & Beverages (OUR IMPACT) For the past year we have been instrumental in STEAM Education, STEAM Programming, and STEAM Implementation throughout the City of Newark NJ. Through our community partnerships and programs we have been able to expose 750+ students of all ages to real life topics around Social Justice, Sustainability, Recycling and Up-cycling, Environmental Justice, Climate Change, Food Insecurities, Urban Agriculture, Urban Community Build and Development, Self-sustaining Communities, Healthy mind/body, and the Power of Self-identity through our creative and hands-on expressive arts and STEAM workshops. We have dedicated ourselves to standing by and for black and brown communities through our framework for teaching and learning, STEAM FOR EDUCATIONAL JUSTICE. Through each program and partnership, we develop, our goal is to abolish educational inequities, give black and brown students positive and expert mentors who we call Radical Educators, and provide free and quality programming both in-person and virtually! (WHAT WE NEED) We are looking to raise $500,000.00 this year which will go towards employee salaries, supplies and materials, marketing and branding, grant writing, programming and curriculum implementation and development, STEAM activity kits for students, and back end operational costs. STEAM URBAN is an Expressive Arts, STEM-disciplined, 501(c)(3) non-profit, organization dedicated to changing the way education looks and feels for urban students of all ages. We provide personal development workshops and resources to under-resourced communities in urban neighborhoods by exploring education and therapeutic experiences through the arts and sciences.
