Democrats are calling the special session a politically-motivated tactic by DeSantis to further a bid for the White House. (Tampa Patch) 2. SPCA Tampa Bay is waiving adoption fees for all pocket pets including birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and other small pets until November 28th. It even has a turkey named Frida available. (Creative Loafing) 3. A Florida woman whose husband unsuccessfully sued for ivermectin treatment has died from COVID-19. Palm Beach County Circuit Judge James Nutt rejected the lawsuit last month, saying that allowing judges to counter doctor's decisions could set a dangerous precedent. (Click Orlando) 4. The Tampa Bay History Center is marking the 50th anniversary of desegregation in Hillsborough County schools with a panel discussion tonight at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held on Zoom and in-person at the Tampa Bay History Center. Local experts and advocates will discuss how it happened and what has occurred since then. Hillsborough County ended segregation on August 31st, 1971. (WUSF) 5. Port Tampa Bay CEO Paul Anderson is getting a 9% raise. His salary will now be $507,000, up from $465,307. Anderson will also receive a one-time deferred compensation bonus of $160,000.
