Don't Miss the Color of Money Exhibit and Reception - Friday, November 19, 2021
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
This rare and interesting exhibition shows the importance of slavery in the economy of the South. Artist John Jones has documented more than 126 images of slavery depicted on money circulating in confederate and southern states. The importance of this exhibit is that it counters claims that the Civil War was about anything other than slavery, which was the most important institution in the South. The exhibit shows that the Civil War was indeed about fighting to maintain slavery and not states rights.
