TACOMA, WA — A 39-year-old man who police identified in a double stabbing earlier this month now faces homicide charges after one of the victims involved in the incident died, Tacoma Police said Tuesday. A 44-year-old woman who was hospitalized with-threatening injuries after police said she was stabbed in the 3100 block of South 9th Street. Police were called to the residence at 7:45 a.m. on Nov. 5 after police were told that a 41-year-old woman inside the home had been stabbed. The 44-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was found behind the home unresponsive and life-saving measures were started immediately, police said. Police said Tuesday that the woman died from her injuries on Sunday and that the case is now being handled as a homicide. Police have identified the suspect as Tony Sanders, 39. Sanders was arrested on Nov. 10 at a home in Tacoma. He was charged with first-degree domestic violent assault, first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. Police said that Sanders ran from the scene and that the 41-year-old female started to provide medical aid to her neighbor. Police said Sanders then returned and stabbed the 41-year-old before leaving the scene on foot for a second time.. The 41- year-old was able to alert her daughter and have her call 911. Police have not indicated which new charges Sanders will face now that the victim has died. Sanders remains in custody at the Pierce County Jail.
