STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Downtown is partnering with Grade A ShopRite and Person-to-Person (P2P) to donate meals to 500 Stamford families in need of help this holiday season. P2P is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing people with essential resources to help them overcome daily challenges and put them on a path toward economic stability. P2P serves 28,000 residents in Fairfield County with various programs. Stamford Downtown will donate 500 $50 ShopRite gift cards to pre-registered families identified by P2P, according to a news release from Stamford Downtown. The initiative is part of the Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular Park Party which will be held on Nov. 21 in Mill River Park. "Stamford Downtown is proud to be able to donate meals once again to Stamford families facing food insecurity and expand the Thanksgiving spirit from the parade grounds into hundreds of homes," said President of the Stamford Downtown Special Services District, David Koors, in a news release. "If there's a silver lining to the COVID pandemic, it's the new programs and partnerships like this that continue beyond our time of crisis to benefit the entire community." Nancy Coughlin, Chief Executive Officer of P2P, thanked Stamford Downtown in a news release. "Person to Person loves being part of the Stamford community. We would like to thank Stamford Downtown for including P2P in this wonderful community event and as a parade partner for the second year in a row," Coughlin said. "With so many of our neighbors still struggling to make ends meet following the pandemic, the generous donation from Stamford Downtown is extremely timely. These ShopRite gift cards that will bring a holiday meal and much-needed joy to 500 local families."
