Description
BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline Educators Union members plan to hold a rally Wednesday, Nov. 17 to draw attention to ongoing contract negotiations with the district.
From 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., the teachers will be outside Brookline Town Hall out of frustration by the "Brookline School Committee's unwillingness to bargain a fair contract with educators."
"We have brought forward many proposals that address educators' concerns around working conditions and fair compensation," said Eric Schiff, chair of the BEU's bargaining team, in a statement. "The committee deflects and ignores our issues and concerns in an attempt to create a top-down management structure."
"We intend to show up in force on Wednesday to let the committee know that collective bargaining does not work that way," he continued. "Our members deserve more respect, both on the job and at the bargaining table. Our union is fighting for the quality of education that our students experience while the committee is more interested in arguing about its own authority,"
Patch has reached out to the School Committee for comment and will update this post when we hear back.
