MANASSAS, VA — A 74-year-old man from Manassas Park died on Monday after he was struck by a car in Manassas, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Police identified the man as Jose Pastor Manzanares. A driver has been arrested and charged with felony hit and run in connection with the crash. The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on Monday, near Centreville Road and Conner Drive in Manassas. Authorities determined that a 2011 Hyundai Sonata was travelling southbound on Centreville Drive when it struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway. "The driver of the Sonata continued driving off the roadway and onto the median before fleeing the area," the police department wrote in their report. "The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash." Members of the police department found the Hyundai involved in the crash near Burlington Court while they were investigating. They also identified a woman who they believe was driving the car when it struck the pedestrian. The woman was idenitified as Keiry Beatriz Alvarez Contreras. She was arrested on Monday and charged with felony hit and run and driving without a license. She was initially held on a $10,000 bond, and her court date is pending. Authorities with the Prince William County Police Department are still investigating the crash.
