MANASSAS, VA — A 22-year-old man was stabbed in Manassas on Sunday during an armed robbery attempt, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Officers responded to Irongate Way in Manassas around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday morning to investigate the reported stabbing and armed robbery attempt. The incident itself occurred between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., police said.
In their report, authorities said the victim, who was only identified as a 22-year-old man, was in the area of Irongate Way when he was approached and surrounded by a group of unknown men. The group eventually began to assault the victim, police said.
"At one point, someone from the group attempted to take the victim's phone before the parties separated," the police department wrote in their report. "As the victim was walking away, he observed that he had been stabbed with an unknown object."
The victim took himself to the hospital to receive treatment for his injury, where police were contacted. Authorities said the victim was unable to identify or provide a description of any of his attackers.
