Description

Press release from the Round Rock Chamber: November 1st, 2021 The Chamber has partnered with Texas State University Round Rock Campus to support their STEM-For-All project. An important aspect of a high-performing community is its ability to create and maintain a skilled workforce. To do this, it must have integrated coordination between its public and higher education systems and its business stakeholders. The Chamber works with all of these entities in order to produce top-flight talent for our community. A critical need for workforce readiness is the integration of STEM, which is a curriculum based on educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The STEM-For-All Community Seminar Series will kick-off on Tuesday, November 9 at the Texas State University Round Rock Campus, with the first seminar titled, "Viruses Gonna Virus: The Unfolding Story of a Pandemic," being presented by Dr. Rodney Rohde. The November 9 presenter, Dr. Rohde, is a Regents / University Distinguished Professor and Chair for the Clinical Laboratory Science Program in the College of Health Professions at Texas State University and will discuss general mechanisms of virus mutation and will include a short, current epidemiologic snapshot of the pandemic. This seminar, as well as the four additional seminars in the series, are free and open to the community. Refreshments will be served from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with each presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visit the STEM-For-All website for more details.
