GLEN BURNIE, MD — Police think somebody tried to steal or break into an ATM at Glen Burnie's SECU bank last Thursday. The suspect is still on the run.
Officers responded to the credit union, located at 103 Chesapeake Center Court, after the intruder alarm sounded around 3:45 a.m. On the scene, authorities found the damaged ATM and a stolen white Ford F-250 pick-up truck that they believe was used to dislodge the machine.
Police tried to stop a gray Dodge Charger that was leaving the area as officers arrived. A press release reported that the car fled onto Ordnance Road, toward Maryland Route 10 and onto Interstate 695.
Officers could not catch the vehicle, but they gave neighboring jurisdictions a description of the car. Authorities recovered the ATM and the stolen truck, however.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department asked anybody with information to call (410) 222-6135. Tipsters can stay anonymous by dialing (410) 222-4700.
