ROCKLAND, Maine — The City Council hasagreed to extend the Trade Winds lodging license for another 30 days after the owner vowed to correct problems and to better communicate with city officials.
The lodging license for the city's largest motel was set to expire at Nov. 16.
The Council voted 5-0 at its Nov. 15 meeting to renew the license for 30 days contingent on an inspection by the code enforcement officer and the fire chief.
An inspection by the two departments is scheduled to begin Nov. 16.
The City Council had voted Nov. 8 to reject a renewal of the lodging license.
Trade Winds owner Aimee Liberty sent a letter to city councilors dated Nov. 12 which stated "I acknowledge that our team has not performed to your expectations, nor have we been in compliance with specific rules and regulations in some cases. I commit to changing that."
