Press release from the City of Baton Rouge: August 27, 2021 Baton Rouge, La. — August 27, 2021 — As part of the City-Parish's ongoing preparations for Hurricane Ida, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced today that all garbage, trash and recycling services for residents of the City of Baton Rouge, the City of Central, and unincorporated areas of East Baton Rouge Parish will be suspended Monday, Aug. 30. The North Landfill will also be closed Monday. In advance of the storm, residents should move their garbage and recycling carts to a secure location and remove any bulky or out-of-cart items from the curb. Republic Services will resume normal curbside collection services once the storm has passed and conditions are safe to operate. City-Parish officials are in discussions with DRC Emergency Services, the City-Parish debris removal contractor, to prepare for potential debris removal needs following the storm. Officials are closely monitoring the storm, with crews on standby to assess any damages or debris caused by these conditions once they can safely operate.
