Press release from the Sedgwick County Kansas Sheriff's Office: October 7, 2021 MEDIA RELEASE                           FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE:                                                OCTOBER 7, 2021 AGENCY:                                          SEDGWICK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE LOCATION:                                       WICHITA/SEDGWICK COUNTY, KANSAS TELEPHONE:                                   (316) 660-3880 CONTACT:                                        LIEUTENANT BENJAMIN BLICK        Shortly after 11:00 AM on October 6, 2021, deputies were dispatched to a welfare check in the 15300 block of west US-54 highway. Deputies received information that the subject of the welfare check, Denyce Briet (67), had suffered a medical emergency recently. After receiving no answer at the door or by phone and checking local hospitals, the decision was made to force entry to the home. Inside deputies located Denyce Briet with obvious signs of trauma to her body. She was pronounced deceased at 11:46 AM.   During the investigation, detectives established probable cause to arrest Kyle L.
