Here are the top stories in Sacramento today: The Fly Brave Emporium, a non-profit retail store that highlights works of art made by young people on the autism spectrum, has been hit by repeated thefts in the last several weeks. Squatters have become aggressive and intimidating to the shop workers and its customers and clients. Police say patrols in the area have been increased, but the shop owner Vanessa Bieker is asking for the community's help, as well. She is calling for volunteers to help inside the store with door monitoring and with security. Store workers hope the community steps up to help. (CBS Sacramento)An Aeromexico flight had to return to the Sacramento International Airport after striking a bird shortly after takeoff. The plane requested to return to the airport for an emergency landing about 30 minutes into the flight. It landed safely after burning off fuel for about an hour. No one was injured. Bird strikes are not uncommon at SMF. According to the FAA, Sacramento has about 105 bird strikes each year. (CBS Sacramento)Sacramento police on Tuesday morning searched a Sacramento apartment complex in the River District for a suspect who may have been armed with a firearm. Police were called to the Cannery Place Apartments near Seventh Street and Richards Boulevard on reports of a domestic disturbance. The perpetrator had brandished a weapon. SWAT officers assisted with the search of an apartment but did not find the suspect. Police cleared the scene around 7:20 a.m. (KCRA3) A man has been convicted in the 2016 shooting that killed 15-year-old Macy Murphy in South Sacramento. The shooter, Christopher Simpson, was 17 years old when the shooting happened. Officials believe Simpson shot the 15-year-old after he "perceived the victim had disrespected him." Simpson will be sentenced on Jan. 14 and faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison. (KCRA3) For California, the $1 trillion infrastructure deal that President Biden signed in to law on Monday includes investment in roads and bridges, water infrastructure and even help for firefighters battling the state's devastating wildfires.
