Road revitalization slated for all five City of Peoria council districts Pavement improvements are coming to dozens of City of Peoria streets in the coming days. Roadwork is scheduled to begin citywide starting this Wednesday, August 25, weather permitting. The restoration work is part of the Public Works Department's 2021 Pavement Preservation Program and is happening citywide. What Type of Work? The type of work is called sealcoating. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water. Which Streets Where? Maps of the streets by district are available on the Public Works page on the City of Peoria website. Visit peoriagov.org/public-works and click "Pavement Preservation," halfway down the page. Then locate the maps. Pay Attention to Signage No Parking and other traffic signs will be placed on the selected streets as soon as possible, before work begins. Residents may be required to find alternative, off-street parking. Driveways may have limited access during the process. Traffic signs will remain in place until work is complete. The work should wrap up in one week.
