MALIBU, CA — The Point Dume access road and parking lot that collapsed in August were reopened Tuesday, according to the City of Malibu. Los Angeles Beaches and Harbors reconstructed the access road from Westward Beach Road into the parking lot and have opened two of three public restrooms at Point Dume. The road had collapsed from high tide and high surf erosion. It eventually collapsed on Aug. 21, a weekend that brought flooding and shoreline damage to coastal areas all over Southern California.
