LHS Junior Achievement Company Selling 'The Game Of Lemont'

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School's Junior Achievement company is selling "The Game Of Lemont," just in time for any holiday gifts, according to a release from the school. Lemont's Junior Achievement company – LHS Publishing, Inc. – has modeled "The Game of Lemont" after the Milton Bradley board game, "The Game of Life." As players wind their way through the game, they encounter the names of many familiar local businesses, as well as landmarks such as Lemont High School's "arch," the school said. "The Game of Life" is available for the reduced priced of $29.95 through Nov. 30. The price will increase to $34.95 on Dec. 1, the school said. You can buy the game online. Individuals who prefer not to purchase online should contact Junior Achievement faculty sponsor John Aspel at [email protected] or 630-243-3808. Purchases are tentatively scheduled for pick-up inside the main entrance at LHS from 3 to 5:30 p.m. from Dec. 14 through Dec. 16, the school said. Delivery may be delayed due to supply chain issues. Individuals must wear a mask or face covering to pick up purchased items. No items will be mailed. Lemont's Junior Achievement organization annually builds a business from scratch, the school said. A student-led board creates a product, sells stock in the company and markets the product, with a goal of reaping dividends for its shareholders. This year's Junior Achievement board includes seniors Claudia Palarz (co-team leader of management), Jayne Pelen (co-team leader of finance) and Joey Spadafora (co-team leader of management), junior John Vranas (team leader of customer service), and sophomores Casey Kittridge (team leader of supply chain), Lydia Pelen (co-team leader of finance) and Natalia Zagata (team leader of marketing). Lemont High School's Junior Achievement entries have earned eight Chicagoland "Company of the Year" accolades in the last 13 years, including victories in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
