Police Arrest 3 Teens In Connection To Alleged Armed Robbery

PORTLAND, OR —Three juveniles were arrested Sunday night in connection to an alleged armed robbery that took place earlier that evening in the area of Fernhill Park, according to the Portland Police Bureau. The male suspects are ages 15, 16 and 17, and their names were not provided because they are juveniles. A handgun was found under a vehicle next to where one suspect was arrested, police said. Though a second handgun reportedly used in the alleged robbery, was not recovered. Police said detectives from the Robbery Division continue their investigation, and charges will be filed once the investigation in complete. According to police reports, at 6:15 p.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to a call about an armed robbery that took place in the 6000 block of Northeast 37th Ave. The victim said the three suspects had demanded her car keys. The victim described the suspects as teenagers, and said two of them were armed with handguns. Shortly after arriving at the scene, officers located one of the suspects and took him into custody. The handgun was found under near where the suspect was apprehended, police said. As additional officers joined the search, police said a K9 supervisors spotted the other two suspects climbing over a nearby fence. According to police reports, a perimeter was established and streets were closed from Northeast 38th Avenue to Northeast 42nd Avenue and from Northeast Lombard Street to Northeast Holman Street. Believing at least one of the suspects remained armed, officers notified local residents to stay in place. A public address system in a patrol vehicles was used to command the suspects to surrender. Upon hearing this message, police said, the suspects emerged from hiding and were taken into custody without incident.
