Press release from the City of Evanston: 10/26/2021 12:39 PM The Evanston Arts Council has selected this year's annual Mayor's Awards for the Arts recipients to be presented by Mayor Daniel Biss at "A Bright Night for the Arts" on Thursday, November 4, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Evanston Art Center. After calling for artist and art organization nominations from the community, the Evanston Arts Council received a long list of nominations, which reflects the resilience of Evanston's arts community throughout the pandemic. 2021 Mayor's Awards for the Arts recipients: Doug Haight, a photographer who spent two years putting a human face on people experiencing homelessness in Evanston Tim Rhoze, executive director of Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre and a founder of the recently formed Evanston Performing Arts Collective Identity Performing Arts, an organization that provides free dance programs, led by founder and artistic director Ginny Chung-Lin Lo "The number and range of nominations from the public shows the vibrancy and vitality that the arts community has maintained throughout a difficult time," said Mayor Biss. "I am delighted to recognize the extraordinary work being done to enrich the cultural and civic life of Evanston. We are deeply appreciative of these contributions."
