Here are the top stories in Toledo today: 27-year-old Kejuan Holston is the second man found guilty in the death of Dashaun Love, who was killed in the 500 block of Earl in May 2020. Holston was sentenced to a minimum of seven years in prison and was found guilty of complicity in the commission of involuntary manslaughter. Ahmed Bireir was already sentenced in October to 25 years in prison. (13abc Action News) For the fourth year in a row, local nonprofit Nuestra Gente is raising funds to give families a happy Thanksgiving this year in Toledo. Last year the organization delivered 100 holiday baskets to area families. This year's goal is to get to 150 baskets. Donations may be made online or through the mail and baskets will be delivered on November 20. (Toledo City Paper) Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz recently returned from Ferrara, Italy to sign a sister city agreement. While there, he met with officials in Rome at the Italian Olympic Facility to talk about bringing a football event to Toledo next year. Dubbed the 'Superbowl' of Italian football, Mayor Kapszukiewicz reports a 50/50 chance the event will be held in the Glass City after discussions went well. (WTOL) A 16-year-old student at Glass City Academy on Monroe Street in Downtown Toledo was tased by an off-duty Lucas County Sheriff's Deputy after the Deputy would not allow the student to leave for an early dismissal. According to the teen's grandmother, she attempted to call the school numerous times but no one answered, so she texted her grandson. The child's mother reports the taser prods were stuck in his back and the doctor had to "dig them out." The Lucas County Sheriff's Office says they are not investigating the incident but rather the school will handle it. (13abc Action News) Toledo-based plastic surgeon Manish Gupta was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison for drugging and raping women across the United States beginning potentially in 2013. Gupta owned Artisan Cosmetic Surgery with two offices in Ohio and one in Michigan. Gupta was caught after a victim did some detective work, took an at-home drug test that was positive for benzodiazepine, and was able to connect with other victims of Gupta online. Additionally, in 2014 an employee of Gupta found an SD card containing videos of Gupta raping unconscious women. Gwendolyn Pettaway, owner of She Dezigns, started a fundraiser to help five Toledo families: two of those are the children of the victims.
