Press release from the City of Minneapolis: November 15, 2021 A recount of ballots cast in the City Council Ward 2 race is now scheduled for this Friday. It was requested today by candidate Yusra Arab, who is 19 votes behind winning candidate Robin Wonsley Worlobah. The recount, which is open to the public, begins 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19 at Elections & Voter Services, 980 E. Hennepin Ave. Results will be presented to the Municipal Canvassing Board for acceptance and certification. Because of the slim margin between the two candidates, the recount will be publicly funded per Minnesota statutes § 204C.36. It will only count the votes for these two candidates. The recount request follows last Friday's certification of the election results by the City Council, sitting as the Municipal Canvassing Board. Those results are available at vote.minneapolismn.gov.
