SRVUSD Teen Seeks To Equip Students With STEAM Education

SAN RAMON, CA — Dougherty Valley High School junior Aadhav Prabu has had a knack for 3D printing since he first gave it a spin in fourth grade. Now he seeks to bring the art of 3D printing to classrooms across the country. Prabu is founder and executive director of the STEAM Foundation. STEAM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art and math. Through his foundation, Prabu said he offers workshops to K-12 students on robotics, programming, graphic design and — of course — 3D printing. STEAM Foundation has plans to reach more than 600 local students next year, in part thanks to more than $7,000 raised in sponsorships and through crowdfunding efforts, he said. The foundation also seeks to train students to start similar clubs at their own schools, Prabu said. The foundation anticipates some of its pupils will open their own school clubs soon. Prabu said he was inspired to start his nonprofit after reflecting on his introduction to 3D printing through a classroom parent. He decided that he wanted to offer that same opportunity to others. He founded a 3D printing club at Windemere Ranch Middle School before moving on to the STEAM Foundation. Sign up for a Spring 2022 STEAM Camp or apply to volunteer.
